Family Crunch: Spiders
What's the basic statline, and what are some species that need special attention? Suggestions so far:
- Wolf Spiders/Huntsman
- Jumping Spiders
- Orb Weaver
- Funnelweb
- Tarantula

Re: Family Crunch: Spiders
I need to read up on DH rules, but I'll post my thoughts. Numbers will come later.
Tarantulas:
Size: Low for spiderlings, high for juveniles and adults.
Dex: Moderate.
Str: High. Good at pinning prey and fang-stabbing.
Vit: Moderate to High.
Exo: Low.
Agi: Higher in arboreals.
Soc: Low. Territorial.
Int: Low. Tarantulas are seriously dumb and not too perceptive.
Abilities and Traits:
Urticating Hairs: An offensive ability available to Old World types. Creates a cloud of stinging hairs that causes damage and distractions. Has a cooldown/limited number of uses per encounter which can be improved upon at higher levels.
Venom: Increase in potency with levels.
Climbing: Trait. Allows the spider to climb increasingly smoother surfaces. Maybe reduces falling damage (tarantulas are particularly vulnerable to falling).
Do all the Family Crunch threads need to be stickied? Makes the page real cluttered and harder to find the "What's Official Thus Far" thread.

Re: Family Crunch: Spiders
-Bolas spiders can imitate the pheromones of different moths, and have that great "bolas" weapon they make.
-Ogre-faced spiders have that neat little "hand held" web made of special entangling silk.
-Spitting spiders not only spew webbing from their fronts, it's also laced with poison.

Might as well unstick them, it's not like they're going anywhere yet.BrokenMuse wrote:Do all the Family Crunch threads need to be stickied? Makes the page real cluttered and harder to find the "What's Official Thus Far" thread.
Re: Family Crunch: Spiders
I definitely see spiders as either craft specialists - spidersilk is quite useful, after all - or, in a combat party, as damage specialists. They seem perfectly made for rogues.
